When you need to clean, de-rust or texture a surface, the first question is often “Dry or wet?”
Dry blasting sends dry abrasive—sand, glass beads or aluminium oxide—straight at the surface. It cuts aggressively, leaves a sharp anchor profile and uses every grain of abrasive efficiently. That makes it perfect for heavy steel, concrete or stone when you need maximum cleanliness before paint or coating. The trade-off is dust: a proper dust collector and respirators are non-negotiable.
Wet blasting mixes the same abrasive with water before it leaves the nozzle. The water blanket traps dust, cools the part and softens the impact. The result is a satin finish with almost no airborne particles, ideal for aluminium panels, plastics, wood or any job where heat or dust is a concern. You’ll use a bit more abrasive and spend extra minutes on hose setup, but you avoid dust permits and neighbor complaints.
So, how do you choose?
Heavy steel, quick turn around, low consumable cost → go dry.
Thin metals, delicate surfaces, strict dust limits → go wet.
Whichever way you blast, gear up with full PPE and check local dust or wastewater rules. Still unsure? Message us—we’ll match the method to your material, finish and deadline in minutes.
