Process for Producing Wollastonite

The production process of wollastonite powder is a meticulous and precise procedure, involving multiple key steps, each of which has a significant impact on the quality of the final product.



1. Crushing stage: This is the initial step of the production process. Large chunks of wollastonite ore are first sent to a jaw crusher. The jaw crusher, with its powerful crushing capacity, can initially break the ore into particles with a diameter of less than 50mm. These particles are then lifted by an elevator and stored in a storage tank, preparing for the subsequent processing. The key lies in the selection of the crusher and the adjustment of operating parameters to ensure that the crushed particles have the required size for subsequent processing, while minimizing excessive crushing to avoid generating excessive fine powder and affecting production efficiency and product quality.



2. Grinding process: The crushed wollastonite particles from the discharge port of the storage tank will enter a computerized quantitative feeder. It is worth noting that an iron remover is usually installed on the conveyor belt of the feeder, which is used to remove iron-containing wollastonite particles. The presence of iron impurities may affect the performance of wollastonite powder in certain application fields, such as in electronic materials, where iron impurities may affect the electrical properties of the material. The iron-free wollastonite particles after the iron remover enter the grinding machine main body and are ground under the action of grinding rollers. The selection of grinding machines is diverse, such as Raymond mills, vertical mills, etc. Different grinding machines have differences in grinding effect, energy consumption, and output. For example, Raymond mills are suitable for small-scale production, with a simple structure and convenient operation; while vertical mills are more suitable for large-scale production, featuring efficient energy saving and uniform product particle size distribution. During the grinding process, parameters such as feed rate, grinding roller pressure, and grinding time need to be strictly controlled to obtain the desired particle size and quality of wollastonite powder.



3. Classification stage: The ground wollastonite powder in the grinding machine will be carried into the classifier by the fan. The classifier is like a fine separator, using air flow or vibration principles to separate different particle sizes of powder. The wollastonite powder that passes through the classifier with the required fineness will enter the dust collector through the pipeline; while the coarser powder that cannot pass through will fall back into the grinding machine for further grinding. The performance of the classifier directly affects the particle size distribution and purity of the product. Therefore, the classification accuracy and working parameters of the classifier need to be precisely adjusted according to production requirements to ensure that the particle size of the finished wollastonite powder is uniform and meets the requirements of different customers and application fields.



4. Packaging stage: The wollastonite powder collected in the dust collector enters the packaging machine through the discharge valve at the bottom of the dust collector. The packaging machine packs the wollastonite powder into bags and stacks them in the warehouse for sale or further use. During the packaging process, it is necessary to choose appropriate packaging materials to prevent the product from getting damp or contaminated during transportation and storage. Usually, plastic woven bags or composite paper bags with good moisture-proof properties are used for packaging. At the same time, some customers with high product quality requirements may also request vacuum packaging or nitrogen-filled packaging to extend the product's shelf life and maintain its performance stability.
