In the large-scale egg-laying chicken farming, poor eggshell quality, high breakage rate, frequent intestinal problems, and heat stress-induced production reduction are the core pain points that hinder the efficiency. Feed-grade calcium formate, with its dual functions of providing organic highly absorbable calcium and acidifying the intestines to inhibit bacteria, has become the preferred additive for upgrading the egg-laying chicken feed, offering triple benefits of calcium supplementation, intestinal protection, and stable production.

 

I. The core advantages of calcium formate

 

1. Efficient calcium supplementation, with an absorption rate far exceeding that of traditional calcium sources

Calcium formate is a small molecule organic calcium. It has good water solubility and does not require a large amount of gastric acid for dissociation. Its absorption rate can reach 70% to 85%. During the eggshell formation period at night, blood calcium is more stable, thereby reducing the occurrence of soft-shelled eggs, thin-shelled eggs, and sandy-shelled eggs from the source.

 

2. Acidifying the intestines to protect them and reduce intestinal diseases

The formic acid produced by decomposition can regulate the pH of the intestinal tract, inhibit Escherichia coli and Salmonella, promote the proliferation of beneficial bacteria, reduce intestinal inflammation and diarrhea, improve the nutritional digestion rate, and alleviate intestinal damage caused by heat stress.

 

3. One solution for two purposes, reducing the cost of the formula

At the same time, it replaces part of the calcium sources and acidifiers, simplifies the formula, has no residues or drug resistance, is suitable for anti-resistance aquaculture, and improves the food safety of eggs.

 

II. The application effects in different stages of laying hens

 

1. Egg-laying peak period (31 - 55 weeks of age)

Adding 0.2% to 0.4% calcium formate can increase eggshell strength by 10% to 15%, reduce the breakage rate from 8% to 10% to 4% to 6%; increase the egg production rate by 2% to 5%, extend the peak period by 2 to 3 weeks, and make the egg weight more uniform.

 

2. Heat stress season

Stabilize intestinal function, reduce the decline in feed intake and fluctuations in egg production, with the fluctuation range of egg production rate reduced by 5% to 8%, and maintain the luster and hardness of eggshells.

 

3. Older laying hens (after 55 weeks of age)

Partially replacing the stone powder can improve calcium absorption and the health of the fallopian tubes, delay the decline of egg production, significantly reduce the post-production egg breakage rate, and extend the breeding cycle.
